Default Jet JPT 310 HH in Adelaide SA - need help

Hi there. I am in Adelaide until the end of July and was wondering if anyone could show me their Jet planner thicknesser in operation. I have a secondhand one in Alice Springs I am trying to get working for my son. I have issues with the motor drive pulley, it is a double v belt pulley but the feed roller drive belt is a flat belt. There is a fair bit of vibration in the belts when running and the flat belt tends to come off when operating the clutch. I talked to Carbatec Adelaide but their Jet machine still has no motor so canít see it running.

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers
    Doug

    Good luck with this.
Hopefully someone will have one to assist you.

I have the JPT310hh and my flat belt driving the feed rollers also slips off when changing from jointer to thicknesser mode or vice versa. It seems to be a common problem with the machine. I've found if I change modes nice and gently, it doesn't slip off as often. I noticed that the flat belt had a bit of wobble to it in operation, but it didn't affect the feeding of the timber at all. I haven't noticed the V belts vibrating in operation, but at a guess it would just be a case of loosening the 4 motor mounting bolts and adjusting the motor position to increase the belt tension. I can take the access panel off and get a video of it tomorrow arvo or Satdy morning if needed.

    Hi Kuffy
Video would be appreciated. I don't have much adjustment in the motor mounting bolts, I am at the horizontal slot and no movement to drop down in the vertical slot.
I have the OEM belts from Carbatec so was surprised that I couldn't drop the motor mounting bolts into the vertical slots. The motor is a mofo to adjust as the tension on the pulley end is considerable and pulls the motor off the horizontal, not the best sort of adjustment.

Anyhoo, any video, belt info or measurements would be good.

    Cheers

Here is a video as requested. My motor is mounted about half way down the vertical portion of the "L" shaped cut out in the machine body. There seems to be enough tension in the belts as far as I am concerned, though the flat belt does flap around on the unloaded side of the pulley (the lower side in video).

    Thanks for posting this

Great video channel btw - some great projects on there, very clearly explained and demonstrated.

    Hi Kuffy

    Thanks for the video.

I was at the Adelaide Boat Show yesterday so only just checked it out.

My vertical V belt is the one with the vibration on it. If it's not too much trouble, can you tell me your belt numbers/specs for the V belt? Mine is so tight and the motor is not down the vertical mounting slots as you indicated so maybe I need a longer V belt. I think the bolt you have pointed out is for adjusting the flat belt tension, although that would wear the belt pretty quickly.

    Cheers

My drive belt is a A1168. Even though your belt is tight, is the motor mount bolts positioned at the top of the vertical L slot? Or is it somewhere along the horizontal portion of the slot? I'm thinking that your belt either has a twist, or more likely a poor join, or that the pulleys are misaligned to each other.

From memory my belt is the same spec. My motor mount bolts are at the horizontal slot level, but hard over to the inspection panel side so that the bolts are over the vertical slot but don't drop into the vertical slot. The bolts sort of sit in the corner of the upside down "L" slots. I looked at your video and the position of your motor drive pulley on the motor drive shaft appears to be the same as mine as well. Def no twisted belt, but it could be a misaligned pulley.

    Cheers
