jointer/buzzer HP
I am about to buy a new 8" jointer and am concerned about the Horsepower. A machine on my short list is the Carba-Tec CTJ-350 which has a 1.5 hp motor - is this enough. Has anyone had an issue with power when using the full or near 8" capacity of this machine? What raised my concerns was that two other machines, all 1 phase, had 2 and a 3 hp motors.

I have had this machine for 6yrs or so and have regularly fed 8" wide Redgum boards over it and have never once stalled it or even slowed it down. Even with blunt blades, it still spins well, doesn't cut as well but can sure polishes the wood

tikiland welcome to the WWF.
I have a CTJ 350. Todate I haven't planned full with so I can't comment on that. I've planned up th 100mm wide to which the machine has handled quite well. I find it a dream to be able to straighten the twisted boomerangs.

Jointer
Thanks for your comments - How do you find the lever adjustment as opposed to hand wheel. Were the machines accurate when you purchased them?

Mine was pretty much spot on out of the box, all I had to do was square the fence up and she was ready to go and the lever action is smooth and precise. I think it works better then a hand wheel setup.
