    Thanks Bob.

    So basically clean up and change brushes is something I can do for sure. Did you make it to remove that blue plastic cover yourself? It seems that its not going to be a piece of cake...

    Hi Zipster,
    My friendly electrician friend did the stripping and yes he removed the "face plate", as I recall the face plate was in two parts, the label is now split vertically so it must be that the face is in two sections. It came apart and went back O.K. Mind, as I say, my friendly mate did it and I guess the tool repair shop, who eventually I had to go to, would have done the same.
