Scheppach HM2 Kombi planer thicknesser needs some TLC
Hello members,
I have recently joined the forum, although I have been woodworking as a hobby for 30+ years. I own a Scheppach HM2 Kombi, which I purchased near new about 25 years ago. I have used it mainly to machine second-hand Oregon, and have 'discovered' a few nails along the way. Currently I have a couple of issues with the machine which are frustrating me:
1. Snipe - this is on the planer. I have watched umpteen YouTube videos about planer set-up, and also read the Scheppach owner's manual, quaintly translated from the German and short on detail. In attempting to get the infeed and outfeed tables co-planer etc I have lost the original settings. In reading old posts on this forum, I see that some members are not too impressed with Scheppach engineering, and maybe this is the problem?
2. Clutch - the space between the clutch plates is more than the max. 1.5mm in the manual, and as a consequence it is slipping and the drive lever (at 9 o'clock position when engaged) slips down when the machine is operating. I can't figure out how to tighten the clutch and would appreciate some help, or watch a machine operating if you own one of these.
Regards
Bruce
