Sherwood Thicknesser Help
One of my very customers handed me his Sherwood 12 inch Thicknesser after I'd finished his kitchen reno. I've used it a couple of times since without a hitch.
Today I was running some oak through it and it was working fine. Until it decided to stop feeding. Motor was running, the blades were spinning okay, it just wouldn't feed.
I went through the Trouble Shooting pages in the Owners Manual but nothing in there to help.
What I did notice was the two rollers each side of the blades were very stiff to turn by hand and didn't appear to be turning with the power on.
Are they meant to? And if not could it be anything else?
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Timbecon guys that had the Sherwood stuff made are back in business...in Canning Vale here in the West. You could do worse that giving them a call...
Failing that I know the chap who used to do the service and repairs on the gear. If you still need a hand sing out and I'll see what I can do...
My 12" has been great, in spite of me pushing its limits a bit...

Hi Daryl,
It should not be possible to turn the infeed/outfeed rollers by hand due to the gearing from the motor/cutter block
Make sure the machine is unplugged ! Remove the side housing which should reveal the belt drive from motor to cutterhead and there is a secondary drive coming to run the infeed/outfeed rollers
Maybe a belt or chain has come off causing the problem you have.

MarkI have the 10" model and experience a similar problem. I get around it by waxing the cast iron table with furniture wax.Another fix is to make a cover for the cast iron out of mdf covered with melamine.Bob
