Tanner Thicknesser - Motor advice please!
I recently purchased a Tanner 12" Thicknesser which I plan use when I retire (shortly I hope) and am looking for some advice about the motor.
The motor on machine is 3-phase (400 volts I believe) which may not be practical for where I intent to live because 3-phase may not be an option.
My question is, should I buy an inverter/converter; have the motor rewired by an electrician or buy a new single-phase motor?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Ross

Welcome to the forum Ross, rewiring is not an option.
Changing the motor for a single phase is the least hassle as long as you match the mounting and shaft sizes.
Worst case is you have to fabricate a mounting adaptor and buy a new pulley.
Adding a single phase to three phase VFD is a good option but it depends if the motor is suitable for running off a VFD and will require the services of an electrician. Those were the droids I was looking for.
