90 degree edges
I am looking for the best way to take 1 inch by 12 inch turning squares and getting perfect 90 degree edges on them. It is important that I have perfect 90's. What is the most economical method to get these results? I see home depot has planners but they are 400 dollars. Any cheaper methods?

Make a shooting board first. There are plenty of plans on the net and you can make one out of scrap for almost $0. Get a plane and tune it well. Especially make sure that the blade is sharp and the mouth and blade are set for very thin shavings. Cut your blanks roughly to size with whatever saw you have and use the shooting board to trim the blanks to exactly square at the size you want. Normally shooting boards are used to trim end grain but there is no reason why you cannot plane with the grain as well. The shooting board gives you very precise control over the plane.
