Default Air Compressor Beltdrive Supatool vs Silverstorm

    Hi guys,
Im looking to buy a air compressor to operate an impact wrench and do odd painting jobs here and there.

I Have been looking at 2 compressors 1. The Supatool http://www.kincrome.com.au/web/catal...number=S130107
    2.5hp twin cylinder
    Pump Displacement: 352.3 ltrs/min.
    . FAD: 241 ltrs/min.

The other is a silverstorm AC5389 belt drive single cylinder with 190L FAD

I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with either? or any views on twin cylinder vs single cylinder?
I have a brochure of the silver storm that i can email if anyone wants to have a look i will try attatch also.
And both are around the same price special order from bunnings.

    Thanks guys.

If you want to use an impact wrench or a paint gun on a compressor there are a few things you need to consider.

    1) What is your budget. A decent compressor that will run a 1/2" rattle gun can be $500 at least due to the air consumption of the gun.

    2) What type of paint are you spraying? different types of paint and different nozzle sizes require different cfm to run properly. Also is it a high pressure or low pressure gun.

    and this is most important

    3) Buy your tools to match the compressor not the other way around.

We had a customer at work that bought an air ratchet before he bought a compressor. When he bought a compressor he found it wouldnt run the ratchet so he brought the ratchet in and found that he needed at least 30cfm to run the ratchet. At a cost of over 3 grand for that size compressor he found out the hard way which way to do things.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Hi mat,

IMHO ,save your bikkies and buy a Pilot K17SD or the top of the line K25SD on a 100 Litre tank. Then you'll have an excellent compressor that will last you a very long time. And it will handle the work you want to do with no probs.
Also Pilot have a very good backup on parts when and if you need them.
Most of the "cheap" compressors are shipped in from china. On most of them the electric motors and pressure switches are crap. Some of the pumps are ok.When it comes to spare parts then you're on your own.
Check H & F in Sydney. They sell Pilot compressors .
    Good luck
    Cheers
