    Default Air Compressors to covet or avoid

    Help!

    I'm in the market for an air compressor (probably about 2.5 HP/40-5-L) oil filled. Usage will be standard DIY/Cabinet making and workshop general usage. Possibly HVLP spraying, brad nailing, tyre inflation etc.

    I've been offered a MAGSTORM for $299 - does any one have any experience of this brand? Supposedly chinese manufacture and of course strongly recommended by vendor.

    Available stores here are Bunnings, Dahlsons, BJ Bearings. Can get to a TOTAL Tools store in Traralgon. Have looked at the Bunnings offerings and wasn't impressed.

    Are there any brands I should avoid?
    Can anyone recommend good brands?

    Have a good look at the Renegade series from Trade Tools - I have a McMillan - if I didn't already have it my choice would be one of the Renegades.

    Got a large, industrial Broadbent at work (furniture/cabinet factory) runs 5 days a week from 8-4 at 120 psi (8 bar) and hasn't missed a beat in years. Only problem is it's loud so it needs to be outside.

    If their industrial quality translates down to the smaller models, I'd recommend it.
