Bench Drill Press options
Hi guys,
Once more I dip into the font of all woody knowledge. I'm in the market for a bench drill press. I looked at a Toolex that looked pretty good at around $400 but was advised that the Hafco is better quality and value. I've heard the Carbatec one is good but the local Carbatec has none in stock and the 4 that are on order are already earmarked. Any views? (ps I really can't afford the $500 for the Jet, even though I love the big table).
Cheers
Pete.

I had a really cheap one that I sold and moved up to a Hafco. It is a good unit and does what I need. That doesn't stop me from wanting the Jet though .

Drill press
Hafco is fine. I have one so it must be!
Seriously, it is good value for money. I had set my eyes on a Jet but Thought the Hafco much betterVFM. Allowed me to buy other equipment.

I have to agree with artme, I have a hafco DP and can't be happier. For the money, I don't think that there is anything better out there. Unless you pay big dollars and buy a gearhead press.

Thanks all, I'll check out a possible source tomorrow. I hope they have some in stock. I'd like to get something soon.
Cheers.

You can make your own - larger - drill press table, or table extension There are or have been quite a few plans in WW mags or that GOOD mag "shop notes".
Here are just two examples ...
