Carbatec CTJ-340 12.5 inch portable planer/ thicknesser - Switch and operation
Hi Guys
Is anyone able to confirm the operation of the green and red on/ off switches on this machine ? - My "on" switch seems to be faulty
Instead of the red and and green switches having a reciprocating action - ie: you push one down and the other pops up (as on my bandsaw) when I push the green button down the machine starts OK, but the button doesn't lock to keep the machine running.
For the technically informed the switch is a KEDU KJD-17 - I can get a replacement from Hare & Forbes or John R Turk so that's not a problem.
ALSO
Does anyone have a moment to describe the correct operation of this machine and particularly what should I be seeing when I look at the feed rollers ? The instruction manual I have is really unhelpful and says virtually nothing about actual operation of the machine.
My principle concern is this - When I hold the green "ON" switch down (to keep it running) the machine's feed rollers don't engage or start turning. There's no sensor and the operation of the rollers appears to be purely mechanical - ie: it looks like the feed rollers should turn when the machine is running
I have checked and lubricated the drive mechanism and the drive chains are intact and all the gears appear to have all their teeth
I hope that when I get the switch fixed that will cure the problem
Any comments greatly appreciated
David
