I think Major Panic has one (or at least one very like it)

ive got a leda one jeff excactly the same ,just deoends on wgat you gonna do with it , its good on small size wood, useless on big stuff . blackwood is a problem as the sap or whatever makes blackwood burn does the same on these and then burns the belts which arent cheap . cant use the last 4 inches or so on the right hand side
as the paper tears out of the clamps and as the paper is cut to excact length that makes it useless. all in all tho i use it regulary and saves a lot of time, just it does have its limits so dont expect it to be like a wide belt sander , hope this helps

Thanks Mongrell for the report.
I think I'll hold off on the drum sander based on what you said. You've saved me a couple of grand!
Looks like I need a belt sander but they are pretty pricey.

I have used one, but only once, to flatten a table top.
It worked well for me(the table top was only about 3/4 of the width of the machine).
From memory it needs 15 amp power point, and a large dust extractor 2hp or larger.Cheers,

sander
Ive got the performax 37 inch wide double drum sander its apretty good machine. The tip for not burning the paper is to increase the belt feed speed, it still will burn but just a little but hardly any, it means that you may have tro pass it throug twice . (just remember its not as good as awide belt but its not as expensive! )

Just stumbled across this thread.
Yes I have one of these sanders from Carba-Tec.
It's a great machine & has saved me hours & hours of work. The later models are even better with drum adjustment at BOTH ends, mine has adjustment at only one end,
You will be sadly disappointed with the performance of the machine if you do not have enough dust extraction hooked up to it.
The book says you need at least 2000CFM but I'd reckon you need at least 2500CFM if you are finish sanding.
