    Default confused about different grinding wheels

    hi, can anybody help me with a simple guide to what grinding wheels to use for what types of steel?
    (is the colour of the wheel the definitive guide?)
    the steels that I need to work with are:
    1. Tool steel lathe cutting tools
    2.Tungsten tipped lathe cutting tools
    3. Tig welding wires

    1. Tool steel lathe cutting tools
    Mostly these tool steels are High Speed Steel (HSS)
    These can be ground with any grey, white or blue grinding wheels but the best type of wheel s Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) as this wheel does not need to be dress and grinds cooler than ceramic/stone wheel.
    2.Tungsten tipped lathe cutting tools
    tipped lathe tools usually use tungsten carbide (TC) these are best ground using a diamond coated wheel or a green grinding wheel
    3. Tig welding wires
    are made of a mostly Tungsten Alloy - use diamond coated wheel.
