    Yes, but it's inadvisable to try to change the direction of rotation by bashing the shaft to make it stick out the other side.

    To reverse the direction of rotation on a single phase motor is very easy. All you need to do is reverse two of the wires coming from the windings. The wires are color coded. Find out the brand of the motor and the model No, then ring the manufacturer or agent and ask which to wires to reverse to change the direction of rotation. Should be no problem at all.

    on most motors its a matter of swaping a few wires . as they are universal motors on most machines . take it to a ocal motor rewinder , and he can do it for you . cheers bob

    Default Changing Direction of Motor Rotation

    The motor is most likely a capacitor start type and as others have noted, it is simply a matter of swapping two wires over. You can either swap the run winding leads over (swap A&B) or the start winding leads (C&D), but not both or that will have no effect. The motor may or may not have a centrifugal switch and in that case, the wiring is the same, just without the switch.
