Need a new flange set for GMF bench grinder
Hi guys,
Im trying to source a new set of flanges for my 8" GMF bench grinder.
I am located in Dural Sydney.
I need one with a raised section for the inside flange to prevent the wheel hitting the inside of the grinder.
Alternatively I could use a small section of tube cut to size, but would need to get this perfectly flat to avoid wobble.
My wheels are vibrating excessively and there seems to be a fair bit of wobble when using the current flanges.
Just trying to eliminate causes at this stage.
Thanks,
Matt

My suggestion would be to find someone who has a metal lathe and knows how to use it
would most likely cost a six pack, maybe post in the metal work section

Matt,
From the looks of the cast flange, the boss (raised part) has been beaten about somewhat. A burr on the face of the boss could make the flange wobble. The solution could be as simple as truing the face of the boss on a metal working lathe - only a tiny bit need be removed - and that is probably the easiest first step towards a solution.
PM me if you would like me to try - I am in Sydney.
Cheers,
Bill
