The temperature outside is just not funny so I have shut the door and spent all day inside the house with Evaporative Cooling. Sitting in front of the computer and getting bored (You know what its like) I thought I would have a look at a user manual, for a "Jeffwood" 12" Thicknesser, probably made in the 50s, I down loaded from a member here at the Forum. It was copy of a copy but it was original. Anyway as I was reading it some of the print was hard to read so I thought I would re-write it to freshen it. My typing skills are not great but I did fill in a few hours. Anyway I rewrote the title page and it had the address of 351 Melton Road Northgate Brisbane, and a phone number 266 1677. So what I can here you say.......I googled Jeffress Bros and came up with.....you guessed it, the company is still in existence at the original address and with the original phone number (although it has been modernised with and additional number).

The original family seem to have moved to Adelaide and have specialised in the wine and beverage industry, but the Queensland business is still operating. I wan't game enough to contact them and ask for some obscure part from my 50s model Thicky that they made.

Well I was impressed anyway. My old girl (the Thicky) got a "birthday" before Christmas and its now operating better than ever. Can't beat good old Australian Heavy Metal.
