    Default Metabo DH330 thicknesser

I am considering obtaining a secondhand Metabo DH330 thicknesser. Researching reviews online has one reviewer (USA Based) stating the reversible blades are considered disposable as they were too narrow to be held in a commercial sharpening jig for resharpening, and when they are blunt need replacing, (currently spare blades $100 pair in Aust.). Is there much validity to this reviewer's statement, and would this thicknesser be worth buying as the asking price is 75% of current new price? (age of item on sale unknown)

Another question is there any particular reason why Metabo has both blue and green versions of this machine.

Extra information: My uses will for both recently milled timber and pallet timber repurposing.

    Thanks in Advance

I bought thicknesser blades from England via ebay and a set of 3 cost just over $100. cant remember the exact price. Price varies slightly from brand to brand and various models

And when I went to Adelaide Tools for new blades I was informed there are 2 blade types, and had to specify the part number from my manual to get the correct one, so be a little careful buying from eBay. Of course they may just be the same part with 2 different designations.

I've had mine for a few years now and it is OK, can bog down if you try to take too large a cut. Though never having owned or used a different thicknesser I can't say if the Metabo is par for the course or a little above or below the line.

It's noisy!!! And it makes a lot of chips to the point where I purchased a sucking machine to keep the shop tidy (?tidier).

Anyway, I am happy with my DH330.
