I will start on the sanding plate tomorrow, and from the above picture and memory, the thread does go all the way through to the sanding face. Is there anyone who can verify this for me?

Thank you for that China, I will hopefully drilling the hole today to 17.5mm for the 3/4" UNF left hand thread. I have made the disc 235mm, it fits fine and the sanding discs are readily available.

The disc is drilled ready for threading and it is now faced off and perfectly true. I just need the lathe threading tool to finish. It will be a challenge, it is an internal left hand thread, never attempted it before ….but then again most of the above I had never done either, a learning experience for sure.

Well after some more looking around, all of the 235 sanding discs I saw were velcro type, and expensive compared to a sheet of good quality paper. I settled on buying the 230x180 sheets and simply cut them out. I will need to get some adhesive since these are just plain sheets, there used to be a product like disc adhesive, from memory, I couldn't find anything even similar. Thinking more on it, I guess carpet tile adhesive would do the job? If anyone has any thoughts on this I am happy to learn.

Gemcuts have disc cement Gemcuts Lapidary & Jewellery Making Tools or any sheep shearing supply will have it, I use self stick disc which I get from the Sandpaper man, I don't like velcro as in my opinion it has too much give for a lot of the work I use them for

Nice work China, I looked at the Sandpaperman, but didn't see 230mm, but just minutes from me is this... It looks like it will do the job. I like the way you think....outside the square. BTW, my shed has an ac unit, any time you need to measure, hot or cold is no issue at all.Lister-Supershear Pro Grind Glue

Well, I got a surprise today, i ordered 2 NOS badges for my machine last week..ebay, the guy (Jim) I messaged was very nice, Durden Holdings. He very kindly sent me the 2 150mm badges with 3 free items, now that doesn't happen much these days. I wrote a message back to him, thanking him for his great service.

Back to work now so everything has slowed. I still need to repaint the main body but the 2 side covers are done now and new emblems are attached.

I bought this from Bangood, I'm not sure if I will need to modify it to fit the slot, but it looks like something that has promise. I will update when I receive it, hopefully shortly.

I received the cross slide and the reversing switch Thursday, pretty timely since I have the long weekend to work on things. The main slide is as I thought, made from anodised aluminium, and too wide for the Durden slot....19mm. I looked during the week for something around the size I would need 5/8x 3/8, the nearest here is 10mm x 20mm in hot rolled steel or stainless steel, so I went for the plain steel.... easier for machining. I have made the bar a little shorter than the original, 450mm looked a little long, and I have opted not to use the original fittings, that made the slide a little bit adjustable in width, but may still add them in the future. It fits very nicely in the slot as it is with almost no play, yet is easily moved in the main table slot and the sanding table slot. I like this slide a lot, it is very easily adjustable for the 90deg setting by loosening 4 screws, I think this will be fine.
