Removing Rusty Nuts.
Might be handy for some. Cheers, Fred
REMOVING RUSTY NUTS
Will this see the end of WD40 and CRC?
A great idea if you have tight nuts and want them loosened.

I'll stick with the proven Aussie method and use a BBP.

I can't figure out the function of the wax. Penetrating when the lighter flame warms up the nut for oh-so-little expansion?
Instead of a cleaner like WD-40, I use a foaming oil lubricant called Fluid Film, in a rattle can. Maybe $20 here.
Door lock cylinder assemblies are about $180.00 installed. Can #1 of Fluid Film saved 2 of them.
Spray in the lock, walk away for 20 minutes. Action is not instant.
GF has a nice GM truck. Driver's door stuck open! The cam assemblies in the hinge area were dry.
Good squirts of FF everywhere = fixed. Then heavy grease lube brushed in. We don't care about any dust accumulation now.
Snow won't melt away for another 4 months.
If you can find Fluid Film (silver can, maroon writing), it's well worth a try.

I was taught many years ago by a then old mechanical man that before trying to loosen a rusted nut to tighten it first to break the rust seal.

Yeah, me, too. "Overtighten the nut," he said. "Just a little. Doesn't even need to be 1/8 of a turn."
