I always do that with the drill running.

I don’t know whether our RCDs in Oz meet this requirement.
Has anyone been able to test this, or confirm if it's likely to be an issue in Australia? Interestingly, the old Nova DVR lathe manual actually encouraged the use of an RCD!! From the Nova DVR xp manual:
"Ground Fault Interrupters (GFI's) or Residual Current Detectors (RCD's) are helpful and are a
recommended protection device for any powertool. They can be used in conjunction with a
DVR lathe. Note some makes of GFI may not be compatible"

Just looking at the Teknatool site, and apparently it's also available from:
    Trend Timbers (Syd)
    Carrolls (Melb)
    Gregory Machinery (Bris)
Timbecon (Perth) but no mention of Timbecon Melb.

Chris that link to the Manual download didn't work properly, so I went to the site and it still didn't work ("Failed"). If you have successfully downloaded it would you mind emailing it to me please?

Default OK - has anyone here bought a DVR yet?

As this has been available for a while, I'm interested to know if anyone has bought one of these drill presses as yet. If so, can you provide some real-world feedback, any issues or concerns, and particularly any measured run-out in the chuck.

Also, has anyone managed to confirm if Australian RCD's are really an issue??

I can't help you with personal use, but i went over it this morning at Carbatec, its one solid machine, looking forwards to seeing real reviews.
