    I can't think of any disadvantages of a European slider. Yes, they can be modified with add ons but that only enhances an already terrific machine. One thing that is essential and not even an option is that you must have a dust extractor before starting to cut anything, if you haven't the internal ducting blocks up and has to be dismantled to clear it. Both Hammer, Felder and Minimax as well have videos on YouTube and Hammer/Felder do some projects from start to finish such as this....

    I note at the 5:15 mark in the video, he switches on the A3-31 by stabbing the "on" button. You never do this with any of the Hammer machines. Instead, you push and hold the button until the motor runs evenly (this can take 5" or so). If you stab the button it will shorten the life of the capacitor.
