Spindle Sander Wobble

I recently picked up a spindle sander / bobbin sander second hand, was only used very lightly and it showed. Its a MM326 - http://www.ledamachinery.com.au/inde...-sander-detail
The problem I have is the bobbins / drums themselves wobble quite bad at the top of the spindle. The bottom seems to run smooth without any vibrations at all.
I have tried 3 different shafts from the 1/4" to the 1-1/2" drums but they all seem to have the wobble at the top.
Is this a normal occurrence or is there something I should try? Any help or light on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming the spindles screw in the same way the Jet ones do, ie. thread at the bottom and a taper above the thread, check for any foriegn matter on the internal taper of the motor shaft. I have the Jet and I always ensure that the taper on the spindle, and the motor shaft taper are perfectly clean before screwing the spindle in. If there is anything in the taper it can throw the top of the spindle off to the side, hence wobble at the top only.
The only other thing I can think of that it might be (and I hope not) is that the motor shaft is bent. This is unlikely unless the unit had been dropped or hit severely with a spindle in place.
Never overtighten the spindles when you put them in. They only need to be knipped up firm as the direction the motor turns will be trying to tighten them further anyway.
