Thicknesser conversion to flap sander
Its either a light-bulb moment OR a moment of madness.
I have 330mm WorkZone (an ALDI thing) thicknesser and I was staring at it the other day when I had an epiphany.
Could I - I wondered - turn it into a temporary flap sander.
I'd reverse the blades and use them toclamp, say, 80 grit sanding belt sections of 100mm x 100mm the width of the cutter cylinder.
Would the speed of the drum be too much to be an effective sander.
Any thoughts? Or will I end up killing myself?Last edited by Shedhand; 22nd March 2022 at 09:37 PM. Reason: bigger text for us old farts to read.

I'm thinking "temporary" is a very suitable word.

Also, as it turns out - there's no new ideas left.

Yep, probably by as much as 75% I reckon. Can't faffed with that. I'll haunt the local men's shed if they have a flat bed sander.
