Default Water/Oil Filter for Air Compressor - Air Brushing/Spray Painting

I'm looking for a filter to remove all impurities from our compressor for fine air brushing / spray painting work.

Air compressor is Campbell Hausfeld Maxus X-Lite...
    http://www.pumaindustrial.com.au/max...or-1-8hp-15lt/

Specs written on the machine itself are:
    135L/min
    15L tank capacity
    10.5 BAR max
    1.8HP motor
    Oil free

What sort of filter/s do I need to look at and what should I expect to pay?

    Something like this: http://www.airtoolswa.com.au/P/Air-D...esiccant-Dryer
You can try VEK Tools or Hare&Forbes in Sydney, they should be able to sort you out with whatever you need.

Usual disclaimer: No personal connection to any supplier etc.

Someone like Festo Pneumatics or SMC Pneumatics or Norgren were what I used in industry, but any good engineering supplier will have water/oil separator/filters for pneumatics even combination regulators too.... the porting size just needs to matched to the flow rate of your compressor.

I have the same compressor as you and airbrush using acrylic and solvent based paints.

You won't need to worry about an oil filter as the compressor doesn't have any oil in it.

Dealing with water is easy. You can get in line air regulators that have a polycarbonate bowl underneath that filters water and particulates out. I have found they work better when they are installed 3m along the airline as the compressed air can cool enough to dump it's water. Just another note on the built in regulator, mine has died within 3 years of buying the compressor so the extra regulator might save your airbrush from full tank pressure

    Thanks Gordo.

Which filter model do you use?

See the photos. It's an airtac bfr2000. It's a lot larger than need be for this purpose but it's one I had lying around. Even the primary reg of the compressor is smaller...

Basically it takes my normal compressor air fittings on both sides and then takes a reducer down to the 1/8th inch for the braided airbrush line

I use this on both the X lite and my larger pilot k 25 (an oilled compressor)

Using the reg as I do means I can leave my fixed system at 150psi and turn down the brushes as I need

    Hope that helps
