We've contacted SCM about getting new parts and they don't exist, so we'd either have to find one that's being stripped for parts or have them cast/fabricated and I bet that's mega dollars.
    Got part numbers?

I've been getting told I cant get parts for a lot of my old gear for years and I cant... well not in Australia anyway.

Don't have part numbers, can't even find a build plate on it, but we've had Gabbett talk to SCM in Italy with photos of the machine and they reckon spare parts don't exist. It's a sectional feed roller and it only comes as a complete assembly of 100+ parts

This is going to sound sad....

I have a big shed with quite a few machines and hand tools(mostly old)that I can cut and dimension timber router table, assemble it on a couple of benches (one is a hospital bed that gives me height adjustment) a wood lathe, wide drum sander, Cyclone Ducted Dust Extraction (these last three I manufactured myself). There is even a stock of timbers I have been milling with a chainsaw over the last few years......and the list goes on. I have bags of time because I'm retired (not much money though) Ideal you might say......well The Mt Everest in front of me is not having the "get-up-and-go" to get out there and "create" due to the symptoms of Major Depression!!

So on my wishlist is to be able to work out in the shed and while away the time doing something I do like. The Depression has a "paralyzing" effect on my mind and won't let me concentrate for any length of time. Many a time I have psyched myself up to get out there and work....I walk in one door look at all the gear and material and....walk straight out and watch TV.

For a non sufferer You will have no conception of what you have just read but it is very true and is of course a big problem. I have been having this struggle with myself for more than years. Some times I can actually get going and its great, but, its short lived and I end up in front of the TV. So far since Christmas I have been out to the shed half a dozen times but only to get a tool to do some very minor maintenance in the house.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Thanks for that post chambezio, I can really identify with your feelings.

I've been dealing with bipolar most of my life, woodworking and machinery restorations really help but the motivation has to be there and if it's not then the depression just snowballs. I'm getting better at dealing with it as I get older but it's still quite hard to cope with at times. In the middle of a down swing at the moment and I know that I'll feel better if I start working on something but forcing my body off the couch after dragging myself through work seems impossible at times.

Just got to keep my head down and keep plugging away, it will come good again if I keep persevering. Hope you find something that provides some relief soon, if you ever need an ear give me a bell.

I have had depression years ago. It is a hell of a thing to climb out of. However you can climb out of it gradually.
A key thing that helped me was to do a small thing that gave me a little bit of pleasure often.
It would be different for everyone but woodwork may or may not be a good place to start.
Woodwork often presents a series of problems to solve. This can be good to immerse yourself in or it can seem overwhelming.

Out of curiosity I told time off work and visited the local Mens Shed. The first guy I talked to had no interest in woodworking. He just had depression and found it useful to hang out with other guys. So see if there is a men's shed in your area.

I'm on it... might take a bit but I know a few guys in the US that restore this kinda stuff and they know whos got stuff on shelves y'know...
In the states they were rebadged as a Delta/Rockwell.

Schematic and some parts available in stock here...

Rockwell 22-600 MODEL RC-63 Parts | Tool Parts Direct

sadly the feed roller is not in stock but i'll put some feelers out for ya...

Thanks for that. Are you sure they were rebadged as Delta? I'm quite certain they never did that, to the point that I'd put money on it.

Either way, the schematics in your link are 100% not the machine we have; pulley is on the wrong side, only one motor (ours has separate feet and cutter motors), 4-post table supports (ours is a single central column) and all the castings are different.

that tool parts direct mob have a whole heap of rockwell manuals... just a matter of finding the right one. If we can identify the US model and part number it'll help me with them guys over there.

    Huh...well there you go...

Almost, that's the Mk 2, not the Mk 1. Mk 1 has vented motor covers at the bottom, no cover plate on the front above the table and no oil filler cap on the side near the height wheel. Parts might be interchangeable but I don't know.

shame... I got the feed roller for the Mk2 available ex stock for $400 US... entered the part number off that schematic at Renovo Parts Your Complete Source for Delta and Rockwell Parts and unobtanium became bloodyclosetoim

We're probably annoying the hell out of everyone else but hell... this might be a wish that can come true

Hi Rod, I get up your way on trips up north occasionally and would be keen to check out your cyclone and say g'day if that's ok.
My problem is not depression but procrastination.
I have the best shed of any I've seen or heard but have multiple half finished jobs all over it.
My bro who has Parkinson's bad now suffered from bipolar all his life and my father probably did also.
My mother used to say to him "your never happy unless your miserable".
He was a great procrastinator but didn't have any money to fund any projects really.
I really don't need any more machines but I do need to move and rebuild the Wadkin RS lathe and finish the line shaft, hook up the mortiser to it,finish the Morgan, start on the Mazda 3 wheel ute, dust extraction etc etc.
I'm about to go out now and tig up the Al glove box for the Mog then maybe fix the laundry door.
Try and get out there and get one small job done then reward yourself with a coffee.
Tidying up after doing a job helps, nothing worse than tools all over, makes it hard to start again.

Had a look through that site and it's quite possible that I'll find what I need, but without pictures of the parts on their end and definitive part numbers on my end I'm not game to try it

Adding another machine to my list! Always liked the look of the old Durden machines, figure seeing as I need a thicknesser anyway this would be a good one to shoot for.

    Durden T1400 Thicknesser
    14" x 9" capacity
    4 knife cutter head

For me, almost everything is on my wish list. I have a compressor and SCMS and hand tools. I have a Triton work centre as a table saw. It is on my to do list to build a router table.
    So.....wish list is
    Industrial fan
    Parts for router table
    More power
    More lighting
    Trailer
    Jointer
    Dust collector
    Box joint jig for router
    Woodworking bench and vice
    Decent table saw
    Bandsaw
    Thicknesser
    Drill press
    Bench sander
    Bench grinder
    CNC machine
    Laser cutter/engraver
Long before that I'll need a bigger shed.
Then I will want a better router table.
    A panel saw.
    And on and on....

My wife says I should just make stuff with what I have....sheeh!
I notice she doesn't take that approach with clothes.

Default What's on your wish list?

I'm working out of a single car garage, and calling it a garage is being kind, you wouldn't be able to open the doors if you parked anything bigger than an old festiva in there.

With my contractor saw (makita MLT100), compound mitre, a home made router table, and a bench with a small drill press... I've got no room to assemble anything I make!

My list (if space is no issue)
    - thicknesser, just a little one like a jet from carbatec
    - bandsaw
    - dust extraction
    - wood lathe
    - combo disc-belt sander

And a -tonne of bench space!
