    Default Digger bucket

I need to weld some tooth adapters onto a small digger bucket. I would have thought the best bet is to stick it with Kobe LB52-18 (E4818), out of a rod oven, with 150c preheat on the bucket. But a bloke told me to just go ahead and MIG it. Does anyone know if you have problems with weld cracking etc when MIGing to the blade of a bucket?

    Thanks.

I have just used the mig when reattaching broken teeth to Bobcats ,never had any problems and no preheat.

I'll be using a 400a machine so no probs there. Must be flux core? I've got some inner shield 232 is that ok or does it need to be low hydrogen flux core? I was thinking of actually MIG welding them, as in solid wire with shielding gas, no?

.9 or 1.2 should make no diferrence at all,and if you use solid wire and and gas it will be fine,as long as it is all clean and not rusty and the teeth are not on the mounts when you weld them up.are you useing cig gas?

err....just thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth, being a fitter and all that, What I've found is that arc outside, MIG inside. And, as a rule up here in the mines (Pilbara) only arc is used, using low hydrogen rods (3.2) for all bucket work, for that matter it's all that is used on site for both fixed and mobile plant.
