    Default hard decision

gday all, new to this site so was wondering if any one can help. i already read previous posts on my topic but ill ask for myself. i`m after a portable mig for home/ car restoration. now the three migs i have researched on, Kemppi minarcmig 180, Lincoln powermig 180c and the millermatic 180 auto. i know that you cannot get the miller here in oz so its a toss up of two. can anyone compare these for me? can you run sheild gas in the kemppi for all metals ? is the lincoln aussie or usa built?

Cheak out CIG weld. I've used a 250 single phase in these. A sheety I
know likes his aswell. I'm seeing alot more CIG weld in workshops
so the price must be good on them. On the other hand why not look
at a caddie? I recon there alot more vercitile. ie- you dont need to buy
a whole roll of wire for that "one off" job in some exotic metal, tig is good for
pannel work and fabing up little brackets. Mig is good for production work.
As a boilermaker I had both at home. I got rid of the mig. Even the space it
took up shitted me! Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Col.

    Both excellent machines
The kemppi's main selling point is its weight at less than 10kg its very easy to move around works very well with allu and can weld very thin metals also you can gas less weld so thicker metals are no problem but at a price about $1850
the lincoln (I think its made here) is a great machine especially if you get the spool gun but its heavy 30 kg and draws slightly more current stand alone Ive seen them for less than $1000.00 add a spool gun you will come in around $1500.00 if mobility is not a problem Id go for lincoln you can use 1kg spools in both so its not to expensive for small jobs if you are going to do a lot of welds on very thin material kemppi probably has an edge but I reckon you won't go wrong which ever one you go for

rq weld, i`m sort of leaning towards the kemppi BUT i have heard stories that this machine is gassless only? if this is not true will it weld all three materials with gas? and why would you go for the lincoln? is it because of the $$$ or do you think this is a better machine? i have the money saved to buy either and i don`t want to regret the "probably should have got" other machine scinario. thanks for your reply. mick.

I have owned a Liquid Arc Maxi Mig 210i which is made by Lincoln in Australia for around 10 years now, it has been a great welder and never missed a beat.
    I highly reccomend Lincoln.

(see marc I do by Australian as well)

The Mini arc Mig 180 was able to weld this crappy cycle mufler about 50 down from the flange.

Below is the pos muffler combustion chamber -whatever the hell they are called on the ning ning chookchasers.

My son got it cheap and asked me to weld up the holes .
The holes could take 3 fingers and were on the inside of the tight pipe radius.
I ended up using a patch cut from from a car door .025" thick and spotted it in..

Its not pretty but was not a big big problem using .6mm wire. The problem was not welding but adequately shaping the patch to fit and access to weld it .
