Thread: Home Made Welding Trolley

Next one I make will have much bigger , wider wheels -- like car wheels maybe. Dragging a trolley around the paddock with a large size oxygen bottle ,lpg bottle etc small wheels are almost useless.

Some great ideas there I also like the biggest wheels I can get on my welding cart that are practical (personally i'd have lot bigger wheels n castors on this one nothin more annoying than getting snagged up on workshop mess powercords etc etc) . Large ones on the back n big heavy duty casters on the front. The skys the limit in regards to the kind of bells n whistles you can bang on!

Ive been hanging off mine till i can afford a water cooling unit for my Tig Rig. My initial thoughts are to have easy access to everything you need to and some kind of tool storage/tote for handy critters like side cutters, vice grips, anti spatter, spares n the like.........

Its also great to have some kind a arms length access to your filler rod electrodes etc etc

Not as flash as the Crazy Cart but here's a DIY example.

The gas bottle sits on extra metal framing under the bottom shelf. The mid and top shelves have a metal rail in front of the bottle but is open at the back so the bottle can be taken out and changed from behind. The MDF shelves and 42x19 pine which are not fixed, holds the bottle in place. The wheels do the job OK but YES, bigger wheels would've been better!!

N my personal favorites LOL

Mine is only for a small stick welder but it works well for me ...

Key features that make it useful are the large rear wheels which are good for dragging the cart around my yard and the front small castors which make it good to turn around when actually welding and needing to point the welder in the direction of the welding, especially on big jobs like gate frames.

The basket on top is out of an old fridge. Indeed, the whole cart was done on the cheap as the steel was scrap steel off-cuts at 70c per kg.

Angling the front face of the welder upwards is very helpful for operating the current adjustment knob.

Nice to see the red neck was proud of his baby even if he did go on too long about it....

all salvaged - lawnmower wheels - extendable handle, drop leaf for increasing work area, and rod holders built in.

Thanks all for the inspiration, heres my trolly it gives me room for the stick the mig and some other tools, as well as a work area for smaller welding.
