Debatable. The power is OK and the reliability fine. there's still that question mark over the wire feed. My brother has one. A supermig DP 250. Plenty of ticker, I've used it. But he has complained a lot about the wire speed. Now he feels that it has been repaired. So, I dunno.

A could not truly give a qualified reply as I have never used one.

However,I have an opinion and its only that.

    I base it on :

    • Why is it that this particular brand of machine bobs up in your search (I'm not having a dig at you), Im just wondering if these machines were a good thing why aren't they being snapped up?

    • I have yet to hear of some one who used them at work and said they were great. There can't be too many in the work place-ever wondered why?

    • I am tappped into an electrical repairer ( SWMBO works there) who amongst other machines repairs welders of all sorts. In general the Italian welding machines compared to others from around the world are second rate -due to under specced components- transformers and important bits like that- these are not my opinions but the opinions of the electricians who fix these units.

The unit you need is out there ,but be prepared to look hard for it.I think you may have an opportunity in the auctions of unfortunate businesses closing to to the economic problems.

    Your patience will be rewarded.

    Thanks for the replies.

I thought that might be the case... I just came across a Migomag 300 - I double checked, but it was 3-phase and when I asked the guy said that he also recently got in a SIP 250 that is also for sale. (It was a machinery shop).

It looks like it is a no-go though...

I will keep looking around. I think that maybe a Lincoln 180 is the way to go for me.

    Cheers
