Default Welding 5mm SS rod for BBQ with Oxy

Plan to make a replacement grid for my Komado BBQ with 5 mm SS rod.Have oxy welder, but not sure what type of brazing rod would best for this application.
The actual welds are protected from direct radient heat from the charcoal fire, so should not get to a red heat.

You can actually oxy weld stainless steel just like you weld normal steel.

Probably be better off with silver solder. Has a higher melting temp than brass filler rod but much lower than welding temp. Bit pricey though.

Stainless silver solders beautifully - dead easy to do once cleaned properly.
BUT - the melting temp is too low for a grill. I'm quite sure it will soften and fall apart from the movement of the stainless grill being heated unevenly. Maybe not the first time but eventually it will....
Either arc weld or oxy weld it.

I think you will find that you need to use a flux as the oxide layer melts at a higher temperature than the actual metal.
For the cost of filler wire and flux I cannot see that this would be viable.
Not to mention the cleanup of the flux residue.

Stick weld it, use plain mild steel or farm it out.
