you lift the hood, look down (or up) at the bead you've just layed and cleaned up and say to yourself:
"can I just go back and start that all over again please?"

Your clamps have a reduced operating range at the end opposite to your current need.
You have sunburned arms and legs but you never go outside
You start buying pairs of left hand gloves
You automatically nod your head when you see a bright light
The top 3 items on the funny magazine pile are; a steel merchants specials brochure; a local welding shop catalog, a sketch of your latest welding project.

I used a soldering iron for electronics for years before I ever picked up a welder. I always thought soldering irons weren't hot enough, because I kept burning myself and I reckoned if they were really hot, I would only do it once. Well, I was wrong, i still keep burning myself and welding is definitely hot enough.
I find I have developed a new relflex action. Instead of pulling my hand away because of pain when I touch something hot, I do it now by sound, way before the pain comes.

I find the worst thing was for a lump of molten metal to burn through you overalls, roll down your chest, then your legs and into the boots.
Not nice, trying to get lace up boots off quickly.

You have 3 wire brushes one which looks like it been hit by lightning, two chipping hammers, four welding helmets (I finally got rid of my 40 yr old one so now only have 3), eight pairs of small gloves with only the left hand used, four pairs of long gloves and leather apron for serious welding.
