Thank you for that link, I had missed it when looking some years ago. There have been three of the Filers vices on eBay in the last 5? years. I bought both ( a mate now has one) The third one was very rough (swivel faces welded up?) another friend bought that one and has repaired it somewhat. They are a great vice for fine or finished work.

Any chance of a pic or two of your Filers vice - they seem quite rare.

This is the second one I bought with hardened jaws. The first one had plain (no inserts) jaws and it was clear from the swivel base castings etc that it was made from a different set of patterns

I have the Car stands I bought back in the 70's, the reference allowed me to add the pic and part no. to my tools database.

( also Quick Action clamps, and 4" Machine Vice and 5" machine vice)
