I thought you guy's were serious collectors? I'm surprised that you have been unable to identify one of the very rare models of this saw built specifically for left handers! I won't be following your post's anymore as you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

I went looking for the "similar sort of saw" I have and ... it's that exact saw.
Disston USA aluminium medallion, 14"x7" , same handle.
They were made for some reason!

Given the hardness of the saw plate and the consequent difficulty in cutting down a miter saw and drilling or punching new screw holes I tend to think they were made to purpose.
Innovations are those useful things that, by dint of chance, manage to survive the stupidity and destructive tendencies inherent in human nature.
