Default German Scrub Plane Blade I.D

    Hi All,

Needing a bit of help regarding Plane blade I.d I just picked up a German wooden scrub plane and have re-dressed the sole and I now am wondering in the blade is the original or from another similar plane. I have attached images bellow which have the makers marks on them. I have no idea of the brand or maker.

Hi Kate, I'm surprised no plane-talker has answered your query so here's my take on it. I've copied a passage from the Emir tools site. The only reason I know anything about them is because I was given a plane recently and it had the distinctive Chimney with FWE initials logo on the blade and I had to look it up.
    Cheers, Geoff.
The Emmerich name has been associated with high quality wooden hand-tool manufacture since 1852. The company was based at that time in the town of Remscheid, Germany. The Bermondsey, London, workshop was established in 1932 by Friedrich Wilhelm Emmerich, and Emmerich (Berlon) Ltd has been manufacturing in England ever since.

It was passed on to his wife and then his two sons, and the business, along with its brand name EMIR, is currently owned by the third generation of the Emmerich family in England. In 1966 we moved to purpose-built premises in Ashford, Kent, where we are still based today.

    Hi Geoff,

Thanks for that reply I am also surprised now one has chimed in on this, however thanks for sharing the info you have on the FWE/Emir tools brand I will do some more research on them.

    regards Kate
