    Default Irwin Marples vintage Splitproof Bevel Edge Chisels long reach

    Hi

    I am a carpenter more than a woodworker + such looked back at my Marples Chisels with the splitproof handles i bought as an apprentice, when I missed a set of plastic handle Titian for $312.00.

    I have since picked up a nice set of Marples Chisels with the splitproof handles motice chisels, much like the firmer but with the handle twisted 90 degrees to the blade, very happy with that.

    But then I saw Irwin Marples vintage Splitproof Bevel Edge Chisels long reach

    which were later sold as MARPLES PARING CHISEL WITH IMPACT RESISTANT HANDLE

    Does anyone know anything about these chisels + can you still get them anywhere?? They seem to belong to the 373 series.

    Marples have been making chisels with the oval splitproof handle for a while as they appear in the 1959 catalogue.

    Of the dozens of types of chisels shown there weren't any plastic handles paring chisels but I'm sure they turned up alter. You see these for sale online so if you are patient they will turn up.
