    Default Leg vice?

People, a recent shed find is this old looking leg vice that's seems to be missing a plate of some description. Does anyone have a picture do what is missing? My plan is to replace the time and attach it to me bench.

Almost done. Just need to buy a plough head bolt for the top steel piece, I also need to make a pin for the lower bracket and another coat of oil. The vice can easily reach over 200mm as the thread was not yet bottomed out. Timber is iron bark with a flood oil finish. Check out some pics.

Also need to produce a handle from some old tractor parts to fit in with the style and age of the vice

Nice vice.. Did you work out whether or not a plate was missing. Despite the sign of a missing plate, hard to see what it's purpose would be.

Termi, the nut on the inside had a large boss that was cast into it. The boss was about 55mm in diameter and 25mm deep. My guess that it was easier to bore a large hole in a softer piece and add it as a plate on the back of th main board. Just my guess.
