Ridex Bakelite marking gauge
Hey all, does anyone know about the Australian manufacturer Ridex? A box of tools I picked up today came with a Ridex Bakelite marking gauge. Pics below are from one on eBay - asking for $100. Mine is exactly the same thing. I cannot find any info on Ridex on the net.

What a score! Can you tell if it is worn as having been used a lot?
Time to visit a big library and look in phone books from 1950 or so. Then each decade.
I'd pick Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
I did that for some marked wood work. Next was a chat with the Chamber of Commerce re the business.
Extinct in mid 1960's and no paper trail.

Thanks to the Traditional Tools Group Inc. I have learned the information below. The patent was registered to R.V. Rider, 24 Illawarra St., Allawah NSW.
R.V. Rider
The Ridex marking Gauge is well made in Bakelite, suggesting a reasonably established manufacturing facility. The Application for a Registered Design was made 26 May 1948, details of business activities beyond this date are not known.
