    Default Silver Manufact Co

Sliding down the slippery slope! I found this cool Silvers Manufacturing Co post drill. Problem is I don't know how to get it fro near Manly NSW to Melb??
Seller is only interested in buyer collecting no, post, courier etc. It is slightly larger than say a Dawn 611. With a length of 850mm

    Attachment 283570Attachment 283571

The yoke has been broken and repaired at some stage and the welding less than desirable workmanship.

My 611A is completed and I wouldn't mind this as a new project, I am on my way to being a post drill collector and didn't even notice it happening

I can't open the links , but if it's a No.22 then you're a jammy ba$t@rd. I've wanted one of them since I let one slip from my grasp a few years ago.

Someone suggested: try a house moving company (i.e. the sort that move your contents, not your house). They pick-up and pack for you. Of course they may charge an arm and a leg...

I don't know. There's no No.21 pictured on the Vintage Machinery site, and I can't quite make out from your photo whether it's a single or two-speed model.

I had to let it pass, the freight quotes were coming in over $130 so I hope it went to a good home.

I've been down south, and while in Christchurch I looked up Seanz. Being on the Post Drill slope at present I took a few pictures of his post drill - a Silver Manufacting Ltd No.21 (same model as DSEL was looking at).
Complete and in working order (well it will be when he sticks it back on the wall ), 'though it does have some damage where the column fits into the main casting.

That is a nasty chunk missing from the casting

It is interesting to note also how some older post drills had a timber handle on the feed wheel as well as the crank.

Very nice, but... um...shouldn't you have posted it on the Dawn thread - seeing as it's a Dawn and this is a Silver Mfg thread?

Just enough left for the column to lock into place. Works just fine.......on timber.

    So the only difference between a 22 & a 23 0r 24 is the size!!

    5194-A.jpg

Bottom two images are the 22 the one on the right is the 21…. Still doesn't elaborate on the 21 vs 22/23/24
