Old Square, who was C & M
Picked this up the other day while out Rust hunting,
As I wanted a fixed square of a decent size,an like most tool junkies i was easily able too talk my self into another project that will definitely absolutely, straight on too it, just after the other projects, will be done.
It’s 350 mm long rusted with the stock looking like it’s aluminium,
But after looking on Auntie Google, I can’t find any references too the manufacturer company, or my internet searching is hopeless.
C & M AUST
Of course being biased I’ve assumed(A word I hate with more passion, then seeing politicians kiss babes).
Was abbreviated for Australia an not Austria [emoji849].
Any leads.
Cheers Matt.

Hi Matt,
Is it in imperial or metric? This might help point towards which "Aust" it may be.

Taz,
The comment regarding “Aust” was more tongue in cheek, I’m pretty sure it was made in Australia, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
I haven’t actually cleaned it up yet, but I can’t see any imperial or metric marks.
Tho my gut feeling is, if there were, they would probably be Imperial [emoji849].
Cheers Matt.

The HTPAA has the name as Cusack And Moore but beyond that not much more.

Interesting, thanks Rob the one from your link with the red paint is a later model I would assume being marked metric.
The original one has a different stock with a mitre end.
So they spent money on 2 sets of tooling, these being dyecast products.

A 1950s phone book could show something up.

Here's the HTPAA Directory of Australian makers.

And the picture of the C&M listing.
The other products may provide a lead.
