Stanley 122 Liberty Bell smooth plane
I was given this morning by a friend. He got it many years ago from a retired carpenter. I've done a search and am sorry to see that they were originally wooden sole. The metal bottom here seems to be expertly applied. Just wondering if anyone knows if Stanly were turning out metal bottoms for their transitional planes?

It doesn’t rate a mention in Blood and Gore. The Superior Works - Patrick's Blood & Gore: Planes #90 - #100
So I’m guessing it’s a user mod.

Thanks hiroller. I had checked that and just wondered if there were ever factory modifications. Whoever did this did a good job. I was thinking I had something of value. The blade has three bevels but after a quick hit on a diamond plate, it didn't do a bad job. I like the lever action blade adjustment. Very Winchester. I think I'll clean it up and keep it.
