    Default Stanley Level ID

I posted a thread a few years back regarding a Stanley level (Old Level ID - Stanley?) -- the general consensus was that it is a number 10, circa 1870s. I have another one similar in look, but different in several ways. This one measures 28" (actually, 27 7/8") and has a different style Stanley logo -- I can't find this logo anywhere online. It also has no brass anywhere but the top plate, and no side groove. Any ideas on type and date? Thanks.

Looks a lot like Number 22 of this Auction lot except for the groove:

    Hi schuld66,

I may be able to help with your level, I have a few old catalogues
and have collected a few Stanley levels (trying to restrict to just a
    few of their models.)
Part of the early Stanley Company was the Stanley Rule & Level Co.
and they made so many different models of level.
From a 1909 catalogue the basic model #102 had a non adjustable level without the plumb
and ranged from 10" - 16" made of hardwood with an arched top plate fitted with proved level glass.
By then all the levels had the 'HAND - Y' side groove grip feature.

The size of your level at 28" plus the plumb, is similar to a # 0 model that ranged from 24"-30"

The logo dates from 1888 - 1892. the model # 0 would be impressed in the wood half way between
the top name plate and the plumb insert hole.

They are a very basic simple tool but have such a variety, ones in good condition, are easy to
    clean up and present well.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Graham.
