    Default Tool prices going down?

Prior to covid I would have said this Stanley 45 would be going for and easy 500 probably more Marketplace – Stanley 45 Combination Plane | Facebook This guys listing it for 450. Now granted he'll probably get that because there's plenty of people within driving range to look at it, regardless that his pics are useless and there's no description... I've been helping a couple people with deceased estates sell off their tools and I'm getting prices wrong all the time now. I was sure of them pre-covid, now it's a throw the bones prediction on what someone will stump up. And ebay completed sales aren't a good metric anymore. It appears ebay Aus (forget US or UK, they can't be compared to Aus), market place and gumtree are all out of sync with each other and more importantly the buyers.

Hi TSD. I agree. For some time I was on the lookout for a Stanley #5 but the prices for virtually anything were beyond my self imposed limit. I eventually picked up one privately but still check ebay reguarly (always looking for a bargain). What were once selling for around $100 are now going for $70 or less. Even #7's are selling for slightly less.

    TSD,

It may be a sign of the times, the cost of living is going skywards, people are slightly concerned about possibly this or that happening globally.

So it seems people are either not spending on new toys, or selling there Toys to pay for the cost of living.
I see a lot of what we would buy, will go up an down in waves over time they all do.

I recently have picked up a few new toys of EBay an one New Door stop, don’t ask.
For less than they were a few years back.

    So just roll with it.

    Cheers Matt.

Very true. Prices for everything is getting very concerning. The blatant gouging by companies is unrelenting.

Or perhaps a sign of the declining influence on the market of us babyboomers.
    Apologies for unnoticed autocomplete errors.

Saw your heading, SD, and thought "how ridiculous". Prices certainly are not going down at Carbatec or Festool.

Then I realised that we were in the ANTIQUE AND COLLECTABLE TOOLS sub-Forum!

    Time will tell.
