Hi Rob, Nice Saw.
I am renting a workshop east of melbourne and it has one of these saws in it.....
I've spent 2 days freeing up the tilt and lift and it's looking much better now but there are a couple of bits missing and i'd love to see what is supposed to be there.
First up the riving knife is gone (amazingly, previous tenants used it without one but i'm not that stupid.)
I think i can draw that up and get one made easy enough. If your riving knife suits an 18" blade a template would speed things up though.
The other thing missing is the mechanism to lock the sliding table.
Half of it is there but broken and bent. i'm talking about the little cam lever at the front of the sliding table underneath.
Other than that, replacing the bearings on the sliding table and scraping larges amounts of glue and varnish of the table top....

Hi Hugh,
I'm happy to help you out with sizes and dimensions, templates. And I'm keen to hear how there is an abandoned workspace with a dusty old PK sitting in it . It sounds like a dream .
If you have the time,I would love to see pictures of the saw , and the badges . and whatever accessories that came with it .
There are others here that would really like to see them as well. The PK is a much adored machine, so please put them up.
My sliding table stop has the tapered tip that fits in the hole under the table broken off, at some stage I'm going to get a lathe so I can do my own fixes , but until then I may just weld on and grind whats needed. I may be pulling it out this week to do that so I can put up pictures or dimensions
I have a 15" blade on my saw at the moment , and I'm not sure what size the riving knife is made for. Pictures as well ?
Ive been working making some parts for the saw last week , the twin miters , that are missing . I have been given some to copy . does the saw you are working on have them ?

here are some photos

sliding table is back on but will have to come off again as on bearing is out of line.
I have the twin mitre (minus a knob and the steel flat extension bar is bent).
Someone has kindly offered to let me measure up their table stop so i should be able to fix my one up

Hugh,
That looks like a good example, and having the double mitre is a big plus! Thanks for sharing the photos
Based on this sign

You won't be able to buy an 18" saw to work with your PK
Cheers,

Here is what I have for a riving knife .
I pulled the slider stop and fixed the broken end last Friday .
I got some 8mm rod and re did a taper on the end . Then I found out that a 5/16 drill is 7.94 mm !! perfect.
Drilled a 10 mm deep 7.94mm hole and hammered the 8mm tapered rod in . It's a nice tight fit.
The hardest bit was drilling the hole on center in my drill press.
A Metal lathe would be nice .
