    Default Picture Framer Pay Rise?

I work as a picture framer, paid under an award. (I get paid above award wages however).

Legally is the employer bound to give me a payrise each year?
If so, why and what percentage?

    Cheers

Your employer is legally bound to pay you the award or EBA (Enterprise Bargaining Agreement) agreed wage.

If you get paid above the award (and there is no EBA) he is not LEGALLY required to pay you more until the award catches your present wage.

Now morally that is another story - i suggest you communicate with him about a wage rise, but the old "if I don't get it I'll leave" story can leave you without a job.

    Cheers
    regards

I don't know anyone who works for the Award Wage in their jobs.(we all get more than the award) But I know from an employers' side of the fence,(I Used to pay people to work with me) if an employee does the extra bit, then they are entitled to an extra bit, I have heard people say that if they got paid more they would do more, I go the other way, and do the bit extra and then approach the cheque signer. Most bosses are approachable, even about money, talk to him/her,

I probably should look for another job... The business doesn't really make enough money to allow me much of a payrise. But then again, how much more can I expect to make as a framer anyway?

Perhaps I should look into doing some sort of conservation degree? I love repairing busted frames and damaged artwork.
