Phil, I really enjoyed your PDF of your clock construction.
I am part way through making a similar clock myself, although I doubt that mine will look quite as spectacular as yours! I am very much a beginner, and this will be my first clock case. I picked up an old non functional pendulum movement on flea-bay for $10 and managed to get it working, but it had no case. I made up my own design, (based on photos of "Bracket Clocks") or at least, seem to be making it up as I go along, and my budget would only extend to Radiata Pine, and what ever fittings I could get from Bunnings. Still, it is keeping me occupied, and hopefully, with a bit of stain and lacquer it might look OK. It should at least keep the dust out of the movement.
Your PDF has given me some clues as to how I should proceed.
regards
Walesey

Beautiful clock with genuine clockwork mechanism - triumph!!
Superb result.
You are obviously a gifted artisan, the design is well balanced & very impressive.
I'd love to hear more about the "blue glue" (?), sealing, & finishing.
Is it a polyurethane finish, how many coats, spray or brush applied?
Please do tell.
Finally how often do you need to wind?

Blue Glue is flour paste mixed with blue food dye
The case was finished with several coats of Garnet Shellac brushed on with a French Polish mop and lightly sanded between coats, final three coats were applied with a rubber and then several coats of wax. I lean toward the dark-side
It is an eight day movement so I wind it every Saturday. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I´m not so sure about the universe.
