tempus fugit
do any clockies out there ,know of any superstitions on the words tempus fugit, (time flies)? i was just given access to a deceased estate farmhouse, the guy was a hoarder, and a bit of a troubled soul, there were boxes full of wrist watches, wooden boxes of vintage carpentry tools, cukoo clocks ,drop clocks ,mantle clocks and 4 grandfather clocks, which all had the words tempus fugit taped over, which I found somewhat strange and thought there was a meaning behind it ...bob

Hi Bob,
Just noticed this thread and took up the challenge.
Type tempus fugit into Google and the English translation is "time flies".

"Tempus fugit" is sometimes followed by "memento mori."
i.e. Time flies, remember death.
I reckon that taping over "tempus fugit" indicates denial, even though it eventually caught him.
Cheers (sort of),
