Default First time clock build - quartz pendulum Clock

Having been without a clock in our lounge for years and not being willing to spend money on a ready made from the shop when the mechanisms are available as cheap as chips, I finally got around to making one. As in previous recent woodwork projects I again used totara out of old farm fence posts and NZ beech that I had from my rack.

The wood side of things turned out well, but I wasn't quite careful enough positioning the numbers so they are a bit unevenly spread and if I could find bolder/thicker hands I would replace the ones I have which to me look a bit too wispy (in comparison to the pendulum support anyway).

Your clock looks great John! I can see that the 11 is a little to the left of where it should be,(but only noticed it after you hadf mentioned it yourself) but the rest look pretty good to me. Is it possible to move the 11 without leaving a mark, or maybe just move the left hand 1 across to the right?

I do like the design, though.

Thanks Walesey. Unfortunately the glue I used smears the lacquer finish so I can't easily reposition. I think that next time I have the spray gun out to lacquer something I will remove numerals to sand back and have another go. I have already ordered another thicker variety of hands and I think I might redesign the pendulum to be an elongated bar with rounded ends. So, it is a work still in progress...

Got some new hands and have repositioned the numerals more accurately. I am a lot happier with it now.

Ah! Now that looks better! The new hands work very well. I'm not sure that I would bother about changing the pendulum. The clock looks GREAT!

What a `U Beaut` effort, first up. Love the larger hands, they set it off much more better than your original ones. Made and still make a few clocks myself, and never thought of that angle. For what it`s worth, I`ve made a stencil ages ago, which makes marking sites for numbers etc easier on all sizes of dials.
    Keep up the good work.
