Hi Richard,
"Never ending is it David, always a list of things to do as long as your average halyard"
Yes, but the list is getting shorter all the time, once all the construction is out of the way, there is just the painting to do, before the rigging, and sailing, and I already have all the paint, fittings, sail, rope etc.

'Single Handed Car Top PDRacer Transport System And Launching Trolley'
Hi Everyone.
I have finished the 3D modelling of the plans for the 'Single Handed Car Top PDRacer Transport System And Launching Trolley' today, I will make a start on the actual text instructions etc on Wednesday, after doing some sanding on my PDRacer hull Tomorrow.

Progress Report - Single Handed Transport System Plans
Hi Everyone,
I haven't started the sanding of the hull yet, as I was feeling very tired, so instead I worked on the 'Single Handed Car Top PDRacer Transport System And Launching Trolley Plans'.
Today I made some screen captures of the 3D models of the 'Single Handed Car Top PDRacer Transport System And Launching Trolley Plans', with some close ups of all the important details.
I also have made screenshots of all major parts, and hardware as explosion diagrams so all parts can be readily identified and you can see better how they fit, with the included photos of the actual prototype as well. there are 29 different pictures in all, which I have put together into a 'Word' document.
I just need to make up a parts list, with dimensions of everything, and add written instructions, before converting the whole thing into a 'PDF' file and uploading it to finish it off.

I always found that designing the thing (control line stunt models) was the easy bit, it was the details that slowed you down and made a mockery of your carefully drawn lines

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the advice Richard, there is an old addage, "The devil is in the details", which seems to support what you say, another one starts, "The best laid plans of mice and men ... ".
I hope not to have any problems with finishing the plans, but life sometimes throws you a curve, just when you least expect it, my Bipolar Depression seems to be making me very tired at the moment ( I may have simply pushed myself a bit too hard, again !!! ), so I will need to hold off on the sanding of the hull, at least for a few days, and maybe have a break from the writing up of the plans too, for the same period.
Everyone is more prone to make mistakes, or at least make more mistakes, when they are tired, and I do want to avoid as many mistakes as possible, as this saves a lot of time, and also the extra work trying to make corrections.

Hi Everyone,
I have been feeling very tired of late so I haven't done any more on the Car Top Transport System and Launching Trolley Plans, or much of anything else either lately,
But I have found out where I can get some of the newest anti - depressant medication called 'Lamotrigine', it's not covered on the PBS prescriptions ( at least not for treating depression ! ), so I have to get it on a private prescription for between $40 - $80 per month, depending on the dosage needed, this is at least possible, even on my Disability Pension.
It has the potential to get me well enough to do some casual work fairly quickly, my doctor should be starting the changover from my current medication next week ( it takes about 3 - 4 weeks to complete the changeover ), but I should see improvement after just 1 week if it is going to work as well as expected, and there are less side effects as well.
This should make it possible to speed up my work on the Car Top Transport System and Launching Trolley Plans, and finish my PDRacer in a more timely fasion too.

Progress Report, and great news
Hi Everyone,
I started on a new Anti-Depressant medication called 'Lamotrigine' last Monday, and it appears to be working well, I have more energy, and am less depressed generally.
I started on just 25mg per day, going up to 50mg per day from tonight for the next week, before reducing my older medication, and increasing the new medication each week thereafter until I'm just on the new medication.
I have been able to catch up on much needed maintenance on my car, and catching up on the cleaning of my unit too !.
I have now sanded, and put the final coat of resin on my PDRacer's hull, tomorrow it just needs a light sand before the first coat of undercoat can be applied finally.
As we are expecting rain in Perth on Thursday and Friday, it will be a good time for me to finish of the plans for the 'Single Handed PDRacer Transport System' Plans, so they can be ready to upload about Thursday next week if all continues to go as well as it has been !.

PDRacer hull with first coat of undercoat
Hi Everyone,
As you can see, the first coat of undercoat ( 2 thin coats applied with a small foam roller ) has been completed.
There is not much space in the carport with both my car, and the PDRacer being painted, but at least it is a good place to let the paint dry ( I have also blocked off the rear half of the side of the carport, at the left side of the picture with a tarp to reduce dust, rain etc. blowing in ).
Until the exterior acrylic undercoat / primer dries, in about a week, I shall get back to finishing the plans for the 'Single Handed PDRacer Car Top Transport System'.
Then I can add filler to any areas needed and sand the undercoat back, before applying a last thin rolled on coat, and sanding back again, prior to beginning the top coats of the hull ( Red exterior gloss enamel house paint - 2 or 3 thin coats sanded between each coat ).

More work done on PDRacer Transport System
Hi Everyone,
I have recovered from the effects of my old medication being reduced, but it has been reduced again, hopefully this will not be nearly as bad, and I expect to have the plans for the 'Single Handed PDRacer Car Top Transport System and Launching Trolley' finished and uploaded to my website this week.
I have put in 7.5 hours work on the plans for the 'Single Handed PDRacer Car Top Transport System and Launching Trolley' today.
So far this has taken at least 40 hours work in total, It is much easier to just build something, than give instructions to someone else to do the same thing !.
All the photos and CAD pictures are now complete ( just parts labelling to do ), the contents page and overall layout has been finalized.
The materials list with parts list and dimensions, the written part of the instructions, and the parts labelling are all that is required to complete the plans.Last edited by dhgomm; 15th June 2010 at 10:56 PM. Reason: added info

More work done on PDRacer Transport System Plans
Hi Everyone,
Today I spent 10 hours working on the plans, all parts labelling is now complete, and I have added all the parts to the Materials List ( for each section, with unshaped measurements - I measured all the parts and hardware items today - that is what took so long ), .
Still to be done:
The Materials List ( for each section ), showing how much of everything before any parts are made needs to be calculated from the individual Parts List.
Final Part details and measurements will be included in the written instructions, with individual part pictures showing all details not shown elsewhere ( where needed ).
I have yet to decide if including an Imperial Parts List is worth the effort, currently it is just in Metric.

PDRacer Transport System Plans almost complete at last !
Hi Everyone,
I have done another 8.5 hours work on the PDRacer Transport System and Launching Trolley Plans, they are finally coming together nicely
I have completed at least 75% of the written instructions today, I still need to do a brief introduction, and mention some of the design changes that can be made simply to carry extra weight, or to be made from other timbers, or suit other boats or canoes, or mount onto roof racks at various distances apart, and that the system can be adapted fairly easily to fit any roof rack on any sedan, hatchback, station waggon, vans, or people movers, or even 4 wheel drives.
The Transport System and launching Trolley, without modifications should allow car topping or transport of any Oz PDRacer ( regardless of version up to 50 Kg hull weight + the Trolley and + mast boom sail etc.) , or any other max. 4 foot wide flat bottomed wooden boats or canoes of up to 50kg hull weight, tied down on top, on a medium to large sized, sedan, or hatchback, or a small to large station waggon ( size of vehicles is based on standard [ not low profile ] manufacturer recommended wheel and tyre size usually - 13 inch for smaller cars, 14 inch for medium cars, and 15 inch for large cars ).
I will continue to keep everyone updated, as it may be impossible to get it finished and uploaded by Tomorrow, but it will be finished very soon.
