Good day people, greetings from the other side of the pond. Hopefully my first post is not totally stupid.
I'm thinking to buy Mike's drop-in lug sail http://duckworksmagazine.com/07/howto/sail/index.htm . Don't know if these pictures show 22 sq.ft version or 17 sq.ft, but I'll get 22 sq.ft. Canoe is over 90 cm wide, 30 kg composite hull.

Sail foot and head is about 175 cm long, so boom and yard should be about 180 cm. Can't find any numbers for spars diameter. Duckworks store that sells Mike's sails here in North America, can't tell me anything. Plenty of information on Goat sail, but not on this small sail. Wooden boat people are telling me that boom should be roughly 33mm thick and tapered towards the ends, and yard can be a little thinner. These numbers are for solid wood. Wood is heavy.

It's a small boat, about 30 kg, there is no trailer. I'm handling it on a cart - a trolley as it's called there "down under". Weight is important on the shore, and also on water - I don't feel like wielding a 2 meter long bundle that weighs 4 or 5 kilo. So I've come with crazy idea to use a bamboo 38mm diameter, or a fiberglass tube 32mm. Is it totally crazy?

With the mast the picture is more clear - it can be aluminum tube about 180-190 cm, 32-38mm diameter. I already have 32mm tube.

Any ideas or guesses are appreciated.
