Mik I still have to make the spars and sail planning to get at it in the next week or so. I'll yell out when they are done we could have a play down at the Pat or Westlakes.

This weekend will be paddle only although the weather is not looking too good so the Eureka might stay on the trailer.

No fun getting it wet (rain) without doing the floating bit as well

If the weather's windy, we could always try the Onk or the Pat, and I'd imagine that bits of Westlakes can be sheltered.

Of course, there's always the beach at Brighton

Wow, she's a stunner! You've done extremely well and I'd be proud to own that boat. I can't wait to see your Eureka sailing!

Thanks for kind comments you blokes. Funny how getting it out in the sun showed up all the runs in the varnish.

Well we did get a brief paddle in this morning after waving goodbye to the visitors however as soon as we were ready to go the wind blew up so it was a very quick test run.

Good news is it didn't leak, the seats seem to be in a good position, the paddles work well although I think I should have made the singles a touch longer and most importantly we did not get wet.

My son joined me in the navigators seat and did suggest I think seriously about an outrigger to go with the sailing rig. It was a bit exciting with the wind and waves abeam

I didn't think the launch would happen so I took a few more pics last night just as the sun set and the breeze had dropped out.

Now I must get the spars done so we can organise a proper launch and sea trials.

    Cheers
    Mike

    Default congratulations!

Well done Mike, they are great photos and such a pretty boat, nice finally to see her side on- she looks bigger than in the shed. You should be really proud, as, no doubt, will the designer.
    Cheers,
I'll have a small something to celebrate on your behalf...

Finally got around to gluing up some spar making stuff last night in between work on the Coquina. Hopefully by the time the weather brightens up all will be ready for a sail in Eureka.

    Hi Mike,

Given my interest in the Eureka, the fact that I've actually seen your boat close-up, and that I've got the gaboon to make my own, I can't believe that I didn't know of this thread. Or the one on your Coquina. Well, actually, I can . A lot... <ouch>

Better late than never though, as they say .

    Cheers,
    Alex.
